Impressive Gathering of Trailblazers for Series Finale
A group of 23 MonRoss Trailblazers headed to Westons Cider in Much Marcle for the final fixture of the Herefordshire and Borders Summer Cross Country League. Laura Lelievre emerged as the overall best woman in the series, with her club mate Emma Davies securing the title of the first V50 woman overall and on the night. Additionally, Catherine Finlay clinched the 3rd spot in the V45 Female category, and Rob Nicholls secured the 3rd position in the V35 male category.
During the event, Gavin Jones displayed a strong performance as the fastest Trailblazer, claiming the 15th place overall in a field of 188 participants, completing the race in 30.55. He was closely followed by Rob Nicholls, finishing in 31.18, and Richard Foster, who secured the second spot in the V40 category with a time of 32.04. Richard Bevan and James Morton crossed the finish line together in 34.03, while Laura Lelievre emerged as the second fastest senior woman on the night, finishing in 35.53.
Nigel Baker earned the title of 3rd V60 man, achieving a time of 37.55. Catherine Finlay and Emma Davies, both club members, completed the race in 41.13 and 41.48 respectively.

Meanwhile, on a Saturday afternoon, Gavin Jones participated in the Welsh Fell Running Inter-Regional championship, which was part of the Maesgwm Detour Fell Race. Representing East Wales along with Tom Turner and Wyndham Turner from Builth & District Running Club, Gavin contributed to the team’s achievement of a bronze medal in the competition with a time of 1 hour 58.55. The race covered 11 miles and involved a climb of 3500ft amidst low clouds on the mountains, making navigation challenging due to the unmarked course.
In the previous week, Gavin secured the 67th position in the Magor 10k with a time of 40.53, while his club mate Sophie Williams finished 171st in 50.57.
During the midweek, Luke Gray participated in the Cheltenham Harriers Mid-Summer Open One mile track event, achieving a third-place finish with a personal best time of 4.58.66.
The Trailblazers were also active in park runs, participating from Exeter to Anglesey, as well as closer to home over the weekend.
